Resident goose populations never leave. Geese overgraze and rapidly denude lawns and whole landscapes, tramping emerging grass and ornamental plantings, resulting in barren areas of dirt while increasing erosion and runoff. Geese foul yards, sidewalks, ponds and swimming areas with fecal matter. Geese nip and attack people and pets who venture too close to them, resulting in minor to severe injuries that can include broken bones and head trauma.
